Aquellos visitantes que hayan tenido alguna vez un teléfono Nokia de los viejos o uno de los modelos básicos que venden hoy en día recordarán el juego “Snake”, donde uno debía alimentar una culebrita hecha de píxeles… con más píxeles que la hacían crecer hasta que su tamaño hacía imposible manipularla en las minúsculas pantallas de estos teléfonos. Aunque era increíblemente sencillo este juego era bastante entretenido, especialmente en buses, consultorios médicos y cualquier otro sitio donde uno se vea forzado a hacer filas o esperar. Navegando por la red me encontré este divertido “huevo de pascua” que los desarrolladores de Youtube le agregaron a la última versión de su reproductor de vídeos. (lo que parece se va a convertir en una tradición, pues durante el mundial de fútbol agregaron un botón de ruido de  “vuvuzelas” que hacía bastante soportables los vídeos de reggaetón, los insufribles “anime music video” y los aún más intolerables vídeos de Justin Bieber, aquel adolescente afeminado por el que suspiran todas las quinceañeras, pero que al resto de la raza humana nos hace hervir la sangre).   Aquí están las instrucciones para jugar “Snake” en youtube:

El truco funciona con cualquier página que utilice la última versión de su reproductor. La mayoría de nosotros (incluyéndome a mí) no notamos los sutiles cambios entre versión y versión, por lo que es necesario fijarse en las características del mismo para saber si se puede activar el truco.

La principal diferencia es que el botón de “desplazamiento” del vídeo en la versión nueva ya no está dentro de la barra, sino encima y sólo aparece en tamaño completo cuando ubicamos el puntero del ratón sobre el mismo.

Una vez abran la página de vídeo, sólo tienen que pausarlo, e inmediatamente mantener oprimida la tecla de flecha izquierda de su teclado durante algunos segundos. ¡Listo!, si siguen correctamente las instrucciones, aparecerá esto:

Pueden controlar a la culebrita con las teclas de flecha del teclado. Hasta ahora no he podido adivinar si existe alguna forma de llevar el puntaje o ganarse un premio por resistir la mayor cantidad de tiempo posible, así que los invito a descubrir estos detalles y compartirlos en la sección de comentarios. ¡Feliz rato de juegos! y no olviden abrir una ventana adicional con el correo de la oficina o algo similar para que el jefe no los vaya a pillar.

Esta es la tesis de grado de un estudiante Alemán. Es uno de los trabajos de edición de vídeo más impactantes que he visto, y el hecho de usar el legendario juego Super Mario Bros como tema principal la hace aún más “cool”. Si esto es la tesis del Sr. Heikaus, me imagino como resultará su trabajo profesional.
